Peery’s Egyptian Theater
If you fall into the “kick back and relax” category, consider checking out Peery’s Egyptian Theater. This theater is decorated with Egyptian hieroglyphs and figurines to give it a quirky, interesting atmosphere. Visiting the theater could mean attending a play, a musical, a ballet, or some other musical performance. In August 2018, the theater offered showings of the 1927 classic singing in the rain, a showcase of Latin culture complete with mariachi music, and a celebration of Elvis Presley including showings of two of his feature films, an Elvis costume contest, and a talent show (expect a lot of renditions of “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”) If none of that sounds like your thing, just wait until September! The theater has slotted up a chamber orchestra concert. Peery’s Egyptian Theater is bound to have something that will appeal to you. George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park
The George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park is a ton of fun for the whole family. If you are trying to keep your kids entertained but you don’t want to watch Frozen for the millionth time, this could be a great all-day outing for your family. The whole park is covered in vegetation reminiscent of Jurassic times and enormous dinosaur statues are scattered throughout the park. These huge beasts are sure to capture the imagination of your children, and they make for awesome photo ops. The Stewart Paleontology Museum is another exciting feature of the park. This museum features huge dinosaur skeletons—if you have ever wanted to see something sixty-six million years old, this is your chance! The Ogden Natural History Museum offers even more exciting displays and a satellite paleontology laboratory—new dinosaur bones are discovered there daily!
Waterfall Canyon Trail
If you’d rather skip the tourist attractions and get out into nature, Ogden also offers plenty of exciting hiking trails. One of the most popular trails is the Waterfall Canyon Trail. This trail is not terribly difficult, so it is accessible for everyone—your kids can join in on the outdoor exercise and the whole family can enjoy the view at the end of the trail. As the name suggests, a beautiful waterfall runs down the mountain. You can cool off in the water or just enjoy the view before heading back down again. The whole trail is only about two and a half miles long.
Whatever your preferences are, Ogden has a great activity waiting for you. Why not stay and explore for a while?
